Guide to Homemade Facial Masks For Oily Skin

Oily skin is highly vulnerable to melting makeup syndrome, blackheads, acne and whiteheads. Although it is not explained in any of those medical textbooks, melting makeup syndrome is defined as that awful condition where your foundation combines with your oily skin and makes the makeup seem as if it’s melting from your face. A homemade facial mask is a natural and cheap way for people to prevent these problems for recurring. However, there are a few basics that people should keep in mind no matter the type of facial mask they have decided to use. The face should be dried and washed before the mask is used in order to get the best results.

Otherwise, all you will manage to achieve with the facial mask is the removal of surface dirt and not be able to take advantage of their deep cleansing benefits. Nonetheless, people should keep in mind that these homemade facial masks should not be used more than once in a week. The skin will become excessively dry if they are used frequently. Dry skin will lead to even a greater production of oil because the skin will attempt to balance the moisture levels. Apart from that, when people are making homemade facial masks, it is recommended that they use ingredients that they are familiar with.

In the case where unfamiliar ingredients are utilized, there is a possibility of an allergic reaction. Before using any new ingredients on your face, you can apply them on a small patch of your skin to test them. Leave it applied for the same duration for which it would be left on the face. People should wait for at least 24 hours after washing off the product for a reaction. It can be used as long as there are no symptoms. Some beneficial homemade facial scrubs are:

Yogurt Face Mask

Take a small bowl and place 1 teaspoon orange juice, 1 teaspoon lemon juice and 1 cup of yogurt in it. 1 teaspoon of carrot juice should also be added and then mix the ingredients together. This yogurt mixture should be applied onto the face for about 15 minutes. Warm water should then be used for rinsing the mask off and a soft cotton towel should be used for patting the skin dry.

Soy Facial Mask

Take a blender and place 2 tablespoon of soy curds and ½ teaspoon of lemon juice in it. For 30 seconds, the ingredients have to be blended on low. The soy mixture should then be spread onto the face and allowed to remain until it is completely dry. Use cold water for rinsing away this homemade facial mask.

There are various other facial masks that can be made at home such as the potato mask or even a combination of yogurt and cucumber. These masks are extremely beneficial for oily skin and will help people in reviving and pampering it in the best and most inexpensive way possible. No longer do people have to spend money to purchase expensive facial masks when these homemade ones are available.
