A Runner’s Guide for Beginners

Everyone knows that in order to get in shape, as well as to boost your energy levels, you need to start doing regular cardio. Still, as far as cardio trainings go, running is second to none. The best things about it are its simplicity, its availability and its effects on your body. Needless to say, these three when combined make a powerful athletic tool. Still, running properly is not a simple task and with this in mind here is a short runner’s guide, for those new to this whole concept.

Take it easy

First thing’s first, you need to realize that at the beginning you won’t be able to run for long. Still, you don’t have to either. Running requires discipline and patience in order for you to progress. With this in mind, it would be simply ridiculous for you to try and compete with those who have been running for years. Progress will come in time if you have enough patience, so you should start slow but keep raising the bar. Furthermore, the only person you should ever compete with is yourself. If you manage to run every day, just one single step more than you did yesterday will be a huge success.

Make a schedule

The second thing, which is to decide the intensity of your trainings, is the number of times you run on a weekly basis. If you run only once a week, you need to give it all you got. Run like your life depends on it! Run like you stole something! However, if you run at least three times a week, you need to reduce the pace of your running session in order not to get exhausted.

Quality Shoes

Next, seeing how your feet are your foundation, they are under a lot of pressure which means that even the slightest irregularity in your footwear can have a devastating effect on them. This being said, you need your shoes to be from a trusted designer and you need them to fit. You simply cannot go wrong with Ryder Wear and forget about that talk about breaking them in. In order to be good for you, your shoes need to be good from the first time you wear them.

Choosing your itinerary carefully

There are two things that are important about choosing your running itinerary. The first one is that you need to look at the quality of the terrain. What you need is a path that is as even as possible and without any cracks or obstacles, since this will significantly reduce the risk of injury. The second thing to have in mind is that taking the same road over and over again can become boring and repetitive. So, try to mix things up a little bit, always chose different paths and take different turns. This will result in far more exciting running sessions that are bound to keep things spicy.

Play some tunes

Some people simply find running to be quite boring and this is completely fine. They never dispute the positive effects that running has on one’s body, only that it is quite uneventful and repetitive. Unfortunately, this can lead one to abandon running completely. In order to make things more interesting, you can always download your favorite tunes to your phone or MP4 player and listen to some quality music while running. Of course, for safety reasons, you should never keep the volume high since you still want to hear what is going on around you.

As you can see, running properly is no short of an art, and there are numerous variables to keep in mind. Still, if you play your cards right, you will be well on your way to achieve the physique of your dreams. Not only that, but you will feel better in general and feel overall healthier. A genuine win-win scenario if there ever was one.
