Some general rules are there, but what you need more is to learn how to read what your body is telling you and to give it what it needs and when, so you can maximise your workout and stay nourished and energetic throughout the day.

  1. What to eat post workout

Pay attention to when you schedule your workout, as your body changes energy levels during the day, and adjust the food you intake to these needs. There are some general guidelines as to what and when in terms of working out and eating, so listen to what your body is telling you.

The thing with post workout is you will most certainly feel famished. As your heart starts pumping more blood into your body, your metabolism will also speed up, and that is why your body will crave for more food than usual. You may even fall into the trap of eating more than you actually need just due to the adrenalin rush you suddenly experience.

That is why you need to learn how to control this urge, and that is why there are specific post workout snacks that are better for you. You just need to learn what sorts of food can provide you with the amount of calories you need and how not to cross the boundaries.

Go for the nuts and bananas. Peanuts, cashew nuts, hazelnuts, walnuts, or almonds, contain lots of calories, so do not overeat. Peanut butter is also a good choice. A glass of chocolate milk, Greek yogurt with fruit or some cereals, cheese and crackers, milkshake with fresh berries, they are all great and tasty and will give you plenty of healthy energy.

  1. Drinks as snacks

When we first hear the word “snacks”, the thing that comes to our mind is something we can bite and chew. But it doesn’t have to be that way. Have you ever thought of drinks as the appropriate post workout snacks? They can be the healthiest possible way to make up for the calories you just burnt off, they are easily available, and there are lots of possibilities for making them yourself.

If your workout happens to take place at home, the best for you is to make healthy smoothies. All you need is bunch of fresh fruit and veggies, and a smoothie maker, and there you have it.

But, as majority of us do not own a proper gym equipment at our disposal, we are more likely to need the energy while away from home. So, have you ever considered tasty post work out drinks? They are great because the pack is just the dosage you need, they are tasty, smell divine, and will make up for the energy you need virtually in seconds. Is there a better way of staying healthy and nourished?
