You may have heard of Biomed, but what exactly is it? Well, if you are experiencing pain in your wrist or hands, or other parts of the body, Biomed could help find you relief.

Dr. Fitzmaurice at the Fitzmaurice Hand Institute is known as the best hand surgeon in the Phoenix area. He has developed state of the art techniques involving the use of rejuvenating medical procedures, known as Biomed.

The BioMed Rejuvenation® therapies offered at the Fitzmaurice Hand Institute uses methods that obtain and place tissue with the use of stem cells and PRP treatments into areas that are injured. This enhances the healing process and function while delivering better results and faster recovery.

What are the Benefits?

There are a number of benefits to using Biomed as a treatment option for painful conditions. With BioMed Rejuvenation®, you can improve the number of alive and active cells, helping the body heal from injuries. To receive relief from chronic pain, BioMed Rejuvenation® can help where traditional treatments have failed. These techniques use the body’s natural ability to regenerate cells in order to repair any injuries as well as restore tissue and maintain healthy function. Instead of undergoing surgery, which takes a toll on the body and time to recover, you can find relief with Biomed treatment options.

What are the BioMed Rejuvenation® Therapy Options?

At the Fitzmaurice Hand institute, they specialize inminimally invasive hand surgery and other treatment options such as Biomed to help their patients find relief without having to undergo extreme surgery.

Regenerative Cell Therapy

This technique uses cells obtained from a person’s own fat through a small procedure under local anesthesia. The fat is removed and placed in a centrifuge where it isolates the fat from the cells. These cells are then injected into injured areas of the body such as joints, tendons and ligaments.

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)

This technique is used to accelerate the healing of tendons or soft tissue conditions. The process starts with blood being drawn and then spun in a centrifuge, helping increase the baseline concentration of platelets in the blood. The blood with platelets is then injected into the area and can be done with the use of ultrasound or fluoroscopy x-ray. A series of injections may be needed to find relief from pain in stubborn areas.

Amniotic Cells

To decrease nerve pain, accelerate healing, improve ligament or joint disorders and to enhance results from previous treatments or surgeries, amniotic regenerative cell injections are available. This technique obtains amniotic cells from amniotic fluid, which is provided from consenting donors during scheduled caesarean sections. This fluid is usually discarded after the procedure, but can be very beneficial since it as an extremely high concentration of amniotic cells. These amniotic ells can promote the repair and regeneration of tissue with its anti-inflammatory properties that relieve pain.
